fund raising for Citadel Youth Centre

at Voodoo Rooms Edinburgh

1980: The Citadel Youth Centre opened its doors to the youth of Leith. April of that year saw the first Edinburgh performance of Boots For Dancing w/ Fire Engines & The Chaos at Leith Community Centre. During that summer Dave and Mike volunteered their time at youth clubs at The Citadel. Subsequently during the mid- 80’s Mike trained and qualified as a teacher and Dave as a youth worker.

2015: At the film premier of Big Gold Dream during Edinburgh International Film Festival members of Boots For Dancing re-connect and exchange phone numbers

2016: Boots For Dancing reform and return to stage on the release of AOTN's Undisco Kidds compilation "Still reeling from how good they were stunning = understatement" (Neu Reekie Jan16)

2017: Boots For Dancing are now bringing it back home, time to payback those debts of experience. Recently The Citadel auctioned a Boots performance as part of fund raising event "Supper at The Citadel" in partnership with Chef Tom Kitchin.

20th April at Voodoo Rooms will be the culmination of these efforts to playing our small part in supporting the children, young people and families of Leith.

Reflecting on 1980’s...... now in 2017 we're finding ourselves under the same heavy manners; economic austerity, welfare reform, social inequality, community upheaval and the limiting of aspirations in a post-factual fake news world.

Now is the time to dance and resist!
