BOOTS FOR DANCING had it all. A blistering live act with a dedicated following, these Scottish Punk-Funk pioneers had the songs, the energy, the looks and the talent - including former members of Rezillos, Skids and Josef K, and future members of The Human League and Delta 5.

John Peel was a tireless champion of the group during its eventful, three year existence, recording and broadcasting three studio sessions and showcasing their stage prowess on his roadshow, even claiming it was "one of the few bands that can make me dance."

Athens Of The North is proud to present the album-that-never-was, that surely would have made them. As thrilling and kinetic as the day it was put to tape

"Boots For Dancing are back with an album of floor-fillers"

Keith Bruce, The Herald.

"The music is a collection of militant, lean and angular funk frothing over with punk energy, a dash of free-jazz, and splashes of disco pop bliss"

It was during 2013 that Euan Fryer of Athens Of The North sought out and shed light upon a hidden treasure trove of early 80’s Boots For Dancing recordings and began to work on Undisco Kidds.

To mark its release a brand new version of Boots has raised phoenix like from the post-funk punk ashes to take to the stage popping their cherry at Neu Reekie’s Rabbie Burns Bash on 23rd January 2016. This 2016 version of Boots is undoubtedly the best batch yet; featuring the brand new thunderous ruckus of the rhythm section Russell “Rusty” Burn on drums and Colin “Coco” Whitson on bass.

The clipped enigmaticism of guitarist Mike Barclay a taunt punk funk colourist skittering over the subversive ass shaking rhythms.

And, interjections by new wave crooning, tribal chants, fractured no-wave exclamations, and swaggering funk proclamations courtesy of Dancin’ Dave Carson

“Make my funk the B-funk, I like my funk punked up!”
